QC Games is looking for a highly skilled Senior Technical Artist who is both knowledgeable and passionate about creating visually stunning materials and lighting.


  • Own lighting strategy for our games using Unreal 4

  • Author shaders and maintain stability and performance of material library using Unreal 4

  • Collaborate with Art Directors, Level Artists, and VFX Artists to establish the lighting and post process effects such as camera exposure, atmosphere, color correction, bloom, etc.

  • Solve technical issues with materials, lighting, atmospherics, and post process volumes

  • Create and maintain existing toolsets and pipelines


  • At least 7 years of professional experience in the games industry, including hands on experience as a materials and lighting technical artist, with multiple shipped titles

  • Demonstrable proficiency with Maya, Photoshop, Substance products

  • Solid experience with Unreal Engine 4

  • Demonstrable technical trouble shooting abilities

  • Solid knowledge Maya scripting with Python and MEL

  • Excellent understanding of the technical side of game development

  • Demonstrable understanding of how materials and lighting affects mood, gameplay, and frame rate in real-time environments

  • Expert level understanding of physically based materials and workflow

  • Expert level understanding of photography, color correction and post effects

  • Strong understanding of global illumination and light baking techniques

  • Pluses:

  • C++, C#, Javascript, or other programming knowledge

  • Shader authoring skills (HLSL, GLSL, CGFX) knowledge

  • Current gen console development experience
